This is a very nice and large tsuba of the Shoami school. It dates to the middle Edo period, i.e. the 1700’s. It is of Mokko shape and is well carved with a sukashi design of folding fans. As stated, it is a large tsuba measuring 8.5 cm by 8.3 cm or 3 3/8 inches by 3 1/4 inches. It is in very good condition and comes with NBTHK Hozon papers which attest to the attribution and quality of this tsuba.
