This is an iron tsuba from the Kyô-Sukashi school. It dates to the Edo period (18th century). It has a somewhat unusual shape that is square with a lattice design. It measures 7.4 cm or 2.90 inches square. The design is enhanced by a partial cherry blossom being carved in negative sukashi where the kogai-ana would be. There is a slight bit of metal loss to the delicate kozuka-ana. This tsuba comes with NBTHK Hozon papers attributing it to the Kyo-sukashi school and certifying the time period.
