Nihonto.com is pleased to present this lovely Mito school sukashi tsuba that depicts the three enlightened Taoist immortals. It is wonderfully carved in openwork with the design being brought to life using copper, gold, and silver on the brass (shinchû) base plate. It measures 7.5 cm or 2 15/16 inches tall and 7 cm or 2.3/4 inches wide. It is in excellent condition and rests in a custom made wooden box.
This tsuba comes with NBTHK Hozon papers attesting to its attribution, quality, and condition. The Hozon certification is translated as follows:
